Active Sky Next: Steam Edition is a weather engine developed by Hifi Technologies, which provides an entirely new level of realism to your FSX: Steam Edition experience! With Active Sky Next, you can implement live weather anywhere in the world, create custom weather systems, even program your own thunderstorms and hurricanes! There's a newer version of Active Sky (AS16) which you can pair with another program called Active Sky Cloud Art (ASCA) which replaces the cloud an sky textures like REX does. ASCA is a separate purchase tho and you get a few more texture options with REX (runways, taxiways etc.). Active Sky Next, the most widely used weather engine for PC flight simulation, provides an entirely new level of realism to your FSX: Steam Edition experience! Advanced technologies enable incredible levels of accuracy and smoothness. Realistic radar simulation, cloud position awareness and synchronized ambient effects, brand new air effects. Apr 21, 2016 Active Sky Next got me to fear and respect the weather in a flight simulation environment in a whole different way. It’s one thing for you know there’s a strong wind or maybe some wind shear but the fact that the direction may change in a subtle way can be, especially in a helicopter, particularly dangerous.

I had my first flight in the PMDG 777-300 with AS16 and ASCA out of KJFK. On that first flight there were clouds and precipitation and there it all was on the WX radar, all in the right places. That was just awe-inspiring. Just a sensational product.
The dynamic forming of cloud structures cannot be described in words, it has literally transformed the skies for me! The effect of the clouds wisping over my propeller, oh man! It’s like I could stick my head out the window.
HiFi exceeds their quality in customer support. From an extensive user forum to the easy to use support ticket system help is never far away. In addition, support through HiFi’s team is fast.
Using AS16 in the cruise in a CB-laden area for the the first time ever as far as I know. We can all now experience the forward planning and real-time decision making that takes place in the cruise on airline flights when there are thunderstorms around. You have opened up a whole new aspect to flight simming – many thanks!
I just wanted to extend a shout out to you all for your hard work. I have been a true HiFi Active Sky customer since the 6.5 days.
